A New City Resort to Open in Marievik, Stockholm, in 2029—Bringing Back Liljeholmsbadet
Nordic Hotels & Resorts is set to open Marievik, a new urban resort in Stockholm, in partnership with AMF Fastigheter. Opening in the summer of 2029, Marievik will feature 191 hotel rooms, a rooftop spa, a rooftop restaurant, and more. Alongside the resort, the project will also bring the storied Liljeholmsbadet—Stockholm's floating bathhouse from 1930—back to life.
Right on the edge of Stockholm's inner city, a new landmark is taking shape. Designed by the award-winning French architect Manuelle Gautrand, Marievik is a new city resort that will be connected to a revived Stockholm icon with a cult following: Liljeholmsbadet. This marks Nordic Hotels & Resorts’ first hotel project in central Stockholm since the redevelopment of Brunkebergstorg in 2017, which saw the birth of the two hotels At Six and Hobo Hotel Stockholm.
– Building a resort in the center of a capital is unusual, and that's exactly what drew us to Marievik. Guests and Stockholmers will be able to eat, sleep, swim, spa, and enjoy nature, without ever leaving town. Bringing back Liljeholmsbadet matters just as much to us; people have waited more than a decade to get back into those iconic halls. Together, these two properties will change how Stockholm uses its waterfront, says Fredrik Blomberg, Chief Operating Officer at Nordic Hotels & Resorts’ Resort Division.

From Office District to a Living Neighborhood
The resort is being developed in close collaboration with AMF Fastigheter and is central to the transformation of the wider Marievik district. In the southern part of central Stockholm, a new Marievik is currently emerging along the Liljeholmen quay, where new and old will meet in a mix of restaurants, nature, nightlife, and work. AMF Fastigheter is breathing new life into the postmodern optimism of the 1980s and '90s.
The coming resort will boast 191 hotel rooms. Crowning the building will be a rooftop spa of approximately 850 square meters, plus adjoining terraces. It promises to be a social, urban, and evening-focused oasis, featuring a heated outdoor pool, treatment rooms, a sauna, a bar, and a destination restaurant offering sweeping views of the capital.

Down on the water, Liljeholmsbadet—a floating bathhouse dating back to 1930, designed by Gunnar Leche—is getting a new, long-anticipated lease on life. Closed since 2016 after the city judged it to be in too poor a condition to keep running, Liljeholmsbadet will be reborn as a ritual-focused bathhouse, open to Stockholmers and hotel guests alike from early morning until late at night. It is scheduled to reopen in the summer of 2028, a year ahead of the hotel.
Beyond the spa and bathhouse, the resort, which spans approximately 11,534 square meters, will include a breakfast restaurant, a lobby lounge, a gym, and spaces for meetings and events.
– Marievik is evolving from a traditional office area—primarily active during the day—into a vibrant neighborhood where people work, live, meet, and socialize around the clock. In addition to cultural venues, restaurants, waterfront areas, and other services, Strawberry’s hotel will be a vital piece of this transformation, injecting life and energy into the area year-round, says Thomas Erséus, CEO of AMF Fastigheter.
