Amerikalinjen, Sommerro, and Hotel Kämp Among the Best in Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2026
The results of this year's Condé Nast Readers' Choice Awards are in, and three hotels from the Nordic Hotels & Resorts portfolio are among them. In Condé Nast Traveler, the magazine's US edition, Amerikalinjen in Oslo places No. 10 among the Best Hotels in Northern Europe. In the UK edition, Condé Nast Traveller, Sommerro in Oslo ranks No. 2 and Hotel Kämp in Helsinki ranks No. 10 among the Best Hotels in the Nordics.
Now in their 39th year in the US and their 29th in the UK, the Readers' Choice Awards rank the world's top hotels, resorts, cities, countries, spas, and more. Unlike the Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List and Hot List, which editors select, the Readers' Choice results come entirely from the people who have stayed in the hotels.
This year, three of Nordic Hotels & Resorts’ hotels made it onto the lists. On the American list, Amerikalinjen in Oslo, Norway comes in at No. 10 on the list of the Best Hotels in Northern Europe. On the British list of the Best Hotels in the Nordics, Sommerro in Oslo, Norway ranks No. 2 and Hotel Kämp in Helsinki, Finland ranks No. 10.
– Our portfolio consists of unique properties with unique personalities. That is our core idea: building hotels around a city, a building, and a story worth telling. When the people who have actually stayed with us choose to vote for us, it means a great deal to us. Each guest is different from the next, which is why these types of recognitions are so valuable to our hotels, says Henrik Berghult, Chief Operating Officer of Nordic Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle Division.

Ranked by the Guest
The Readers’ Choice Awards represents two versions of the same award, with the two editions of the magazine—the American and the British—running their awards separately. The format is the same, but each list reflects the votes of its own readership. One counts votes primarily from US subscribers, while the other celebrates choices purely from UK readership votes.
The Readers' Choice results come on the heels of a celebratory few weeks for Nordic Hotels & Resorts. In late September, Sommerro, Amerikalinjen, and Hotel Brosundet each retained their MICHELIN Keys. Days later, Norefjell Ski & Spa, Yasuragi, and Vestkantbadet at Sommerro took gold at the World Spa Awards. Earlier in the year, Hotel Kämp and THE THIEF were named to Condé Nast Traveler's inaugural Triple Crown list, which recognizes properties featured on the magazine’s Hot List, Gold List, and Readers' Choice Awards.

Amerikalinjen
Oslo, Norway
No. 10, Best Hotels in Northern Europe, Condé Nast Traveler (US)
In 1919, the Norwegian America Line opened its headquarters on Jernbanetorget. For decades, the company's ships carried Norwegian emigrants across the Atlantic to a new life in the United States. A century later, the building reopened as boutique favorite Amerikalinjen. The hotel leans into that transatlantic past through its restaurant Atlas, the award-winning cocktail bar Pier 42, the basement jazz club Gustav, and an interior that borrows from both sides of the ocean. This September, it was awarded a MICHELIN Key for the second year running.

Sommerro
Oslo, Norway
No. 2, Best Hotels in the Nordics, Condé Nast Traveller (UK)
Sommerro occupies the 1930s headquarters of Oslo Lysverker, the Norwegian capital’s former electricity company, in the residential district of Frogner. The restoration of the protected building took years to complete; opening in 2022, it now houses a lavish hotel, the restored Art Deco bathhouse Vestkantbadet, a rooftop pool overlooking the fjord, and a whopping six restaurants and bars. Since opening, the hotel has won a MICHELIN Key in both years the guide has covered the Nordics.

Hotel Kämp
Helsinki, Finland
No. 10, Best Hotels in the Nordics, Condé Nast Traveller (UK)
Hotel Kämp has stood overlooking the Esplanadi park since 1887, and for much of that time it has been where Helsinki comes to be seen. For generations, artists, composers, and politicians have made it their second home, and this year's recognition arrives as a new chapter begins. In August, the hotel opened a fully reimagined Kämp Spa, a 1,200-square-meter wellbeing landscape that pairs Finnish heritage with next-generation technology. The new spa marks an important milestone in the hotel's refurbishment—its largest renovation project in modern times—due to be completed this fall.
